Cute Pumpkin Cookie for Halloween
Happy Almost October!
Polka Dot Pumpkin
You will need:
- Pumpkin shaped sugar cookies, recipe here
- Royal icing, recipe here, dark orange and light orange. Outline and Flood Consistency of Each.
- Royal icing, Outline consistency, in black and green for details.
- Royal icing eyeballs (purchased at a craft store, or homemade, using left over piping white and black icing)
Outline the pumpkins in dark orange and immediately flood using the same color, but thinner royal icing. Do not add too much flood because you will be adding polka dots. When I overfill, I have run-over when adding the dots. Now use the flood icing of the light orange royal icing to squeeze small drops all over the pumpkin. It will dry flat. If there are small peaks gently shake the cookie. Dry completely, usually over night, 8-12 hours depending on humidity. Add the green stem, and attach the eyeballs using a bit of wet royal icing as “glue.” Done! Such a simple and fun design.
Since this is my food journal, you’ll notice when I’m making sugar cookies there really isn’t time to prepare real food. So it’s lots of $5- pizza, quesadillas & mac & cheese for us this weekend.
He IS a cute pumpkin, and I LOVE his polka dots!
Thanks for looking Sue! He was eaten so quickly I’m glad I got a pick. Polka dots are always fun!
