How to make Cute Pumpkin Cookies
Cute Pumpkin Cookies
You will need:
- Orange royal icing, use Americolor Tulip Red and Americolor Egg Yolk Yellow. Wilton Food coloring works fine too. Make one day before using, the color will darken. The recipe for royal icing can be found here.
- Green Royal icing, use a mixture of Americolor Leaf Green and Forest Green.
- Small pumpkin cookie cutter.
- Sugar cookie dough. Recipe found here.
Thin the orange and green royal icing to piping or outlining consistency. It should make small, soft, flowy peaks. If it is too stiff it will be difficult to pipe into curved shapes. If it is too thin, it will be difficult to control. Just a few drops of water usually can thin royal icing to this point. Place in a pastry bag with a small size 2 tip. Now thin the remainder of the orange royal icing to flood consistency It should be like the consistency of honey. Outline the two outer sections and the middle sections of the pumpkin. Wait about 20 minutes until the icing has set and outline the very top of the two remaining sections. Flood the two remaining sections. After about another 20 minutes add the stem and vines using the green royal icing. I like these classic looking pumpkins. Jack-o-lanterns to coming soon. I can’t wait for Halloween and the upcoming Holidays.
Thanks Sugarbelle for this idea!
