Silhouette Halloween Cookies

Elegant Halloween cookies decorated with simple black silhouettes.  I thought about putting the black over yellow or orange moons, but decided I prefer the simple contrast of the black and white..  These were quick samples I made last night.  I used my favorite sugar cookie recipe and my usual Royal Icing recipe.

So do you match your ribbon to your cookies, or do you match your cookies to your ribbon?  In this case I matched my cookies to my bow.  I’ve had this ribbon for a while and just had to see these silhouettes on cookies.  I was going to add sparkle, but I’m very happy with the simplicity of these.

I started by baking 3 inch rounds.  To help outline later I traced the same cutter just inside the edge of the cookie.  I like a little bit off cookie exposed.  I then outlined and flooded in white icing.  About an hour later I added the silhouettes.
