Simple Caramel Sauce

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Melt butter in a heavy duty saucepan.  Add brown sugar.  Mix and cook on low for about two minutes.  Whisk in whipping cream until thoroughly blended and continue cooking for another two minutes.  Bring to a gentle boil and cook for about five more minutes until the temperature reaches 215-218 degrees Fahrenheit.  Cool and serve warm over ice cream, apple pie or any other dessert.
