Simple Hot Fudge Sauce
Every Christmas my mother-in-law makes hot fudge sauce for friends and coworkers. The recipe is so simple, I would never buy packaged hot fudge sauce. She usually uses milk chocolate chips. I prefer either semi-sweet chocolate chips or a mix of the two. This is a no fail recipe – just be sure to monitor the heat to prevent burning. This looks adorable when gifted or served in a mason jar.
Simple Hot Fudge Sauce
- One 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips
- One 12 oz. can of evaporated milk
- One cup of sugar
- 4 Tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine the chocolate, evaporated milk and sugar on medium heat. Stir frequently. Bring to a slow boil, then reduce heat and allow the sauce to thicken for 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat then add butter and vanilla. Serve this simple hot fudge sauce over ice cream, cheese cake, eclairs or whatever dessert needs a little burst of chocolate.
