White on White Christmas Cookies
Maybe it was all the snow… or my recent aversion to food dye… or my lack of free time? All of the above? This year’s Christmas cookies were simple, yet beautiful. I outlined and flooded the scalloped sugar cookies in royal icing then decorated them with a touch of edible glitter and a single silver dragee. If only I had time to take a decent photo! Next year, I promise!! The shadows produced by white on white decorations are surprisingly beautiful. The picture above was snapped just as my kids took them out the door to give to their teachers. I actually LOVE my kids teachers this year so I decided to make them each a small box of cookies to go with a Starbuck’s giftcard. I have to thank the ever so talented cookie queen Georganne from lilaloa.com for meeting me at Target on a freezing December night to share cookie boxes with me. Such a lifesavor. If you haven’t been to lilaloa.com you are missing out! The fact that I was able to make just one batch of simple cookies this year is a miracle. Merry Christmas!!

For real I was snapping photos as my kids ran out the door…. “MOM!!!! Stop taking pictures of cookies!” So I started off with just the “Merry Christmas” and snowflake cookies. Some have a bit of white sanding sugar, others have edible glitter or both. Each has a silver dragee because it IS still Christmas.
So I made maybe half a dozen of the Merry Christmas cookies – quite the challange! The rest were snowflakes… so pretty white on white!
I got tired of making snowflakes so I made a simple Santa cookie, Christmas tree cookie and a reindeer cookie (not pictured). Here they are packaged in the lovely boxes from Georganne – thanks again! Really, it was like game over, the kids were running out the door when I snapped these final pictures before they were off to the teachers. Just take my word for it – white on white really works with Christmas cookies. If only the photos did these cookies justice. I will invest in a better photo set-up someday soon! Merry Christmas.
Oh Suz these are angelic, and that writing, incredible!
I’m so glad you like these Bina! It was nice not having all the gross red and green food dyes.
I love your creativity with the cookies. They are beautiful!
